Each estate is different, we will explain each stage to you in more detail and keep you updated throughout the process.

The typical stages of a probate matter are: Initial consultation – fact find and confirm instructions. Information gathering – checking will validity, identifying estate assets, obtaining valuations, contacting financial institutions etc., identifying any liabilities, and confirming details of beneficiaries. Probate application – completing IHT forms for HMRC and submitting the application to the Probate Registry. Estate administration – collecting in assets, settling liabilities and expenses, selling assets, submitting the final tax return and paying any tax due. Finalisation – distributing the estate to the beneficiaries and preparing final estate accounts.

Our fees are never charged on a percentage of the value of an estate. It is our policy to be transparent in our pricing structure and to agree the basis of our fees with clients in advance of starting work on an assignment.

We charge a fixed fee for obtaining the grant of probate, firstly discussing your situation in detail to gain an accurate understanding of the service you require. Before our engagement is confirmed we will set out our fixed fee for obtaining Grant of Probate including Probate Registry charges. We also indicate the basis of charges for the administration of the estate and, to help provide you with an indication of our fees, we outline three typical scenarios and an estimate of our fees in each case based on our previous experience.
